Just a quick mention of something very interesting going on up here in the Northeast US. Andy Gaunt (FMPug), John Sindelar (SeedCode) and Ernest Koe (ProofGroup) have put together an informal, FREE FileMaker Unconference at the Ace Hotel in NYC, running two days, July 16-17. Self-organizing, participant-driven tech conferences aren’t a new idea per se, but they are most definitely new to the FileMaker universe, and it’s brilliant of these guys to bring this to life.
We love that the FileMaker community has gotten to the point where things like this are springing out of the ground – proof of fertile soil, we say. We’re going to try to make it up there for at least Thursday’s sessions.

If you’re in the Northeast US, and can’t make it to the FileMaker DevCon in August, this is a great (FREE) alternative ( – though if you CAN go to San Francisco, GO! You won’t be sorry). The presentations are basically happening in participants’ hotel rooms, so very informal, and a great way to meet FileMaker luminaries up close and personal. At the moment the list of attendees is hovering close to 50, so it’s going to be small, intimate and packed with brains. Get a room (at a group rate) if you plan on attending both days.
Thus far marketing for this thing has taken place primarily via social media, in keeping with the idea of user/participant-driven focus. #pauseonerror on Twitter ought to keep you in the loop as the days progress.
